Birgunj is a beautiful city located in the southern part of central Nepal. It's one of the sub-metros of Nepal and is the important economic centre. Though Nepali realizes Birgunj as a financial sector, it is indeed a great place to explore. The main attractions include the Ghadiarwa pokhari (a sacred pond) which is known all over Nepal for its beauty and holy. In a year during a month of April & November while a festival called Chaat puja the local people of Birgunj Decorate Ghadiarwa Pokhari as like Heaven on the earth. There is a statue of God Surya which is brought from India (Madras city).
Vishuwa is also a great place for Buddhists at Birgunj, there is a statue of Lord Buddha who is the symbol of Peace. Birgunj is rich in the local culture, also warm, hospitable and good hotels. Just twenty minutes away from the nearest airport at Simara and only a mile from India's Raxaul city.
